In just six weeks, over 300 pairs of glasses were dropped off in the collection boxes provided in Zittau and Görlitz. This means that over 300 pairs of glasses can be distributed to people with a visual impairment worldwide. 

Collection stations for your eyeglass donations—please do not include the cases—will continue to be available at the university libraries in Zittau (Building X – Student Canteen/Library) and in Görlitz (Building G V – Student Canteen/Library). The “Brillen Weltweit” initiative is committed to charitable causes and sustainability. All activities are carried out on a volunteer basis and without compensation. The collected eyeglasses and other medical aids are used exclusively for humanitarian purposes. Submissions are accepted free of charge, and all vision aids are passed on to nonprofit organizations. In this way, the project ensures that the eyeglasses do not enter the commercial market. All logistics costs are financed solely through donations. Environmental considerations are also taken into account by ensuring that recyclable materials generated during handling and processing are properly returned to the recycling cycle.
