Over 300 pairs of glasses have already been collected in Zittau and Görlitz in recent weeks.
In just six weeks, over 300 pairs of glasses were dropped off in the collection boxes provided in Zittau and Görlitz. This means that over 300 pairs of glasses can be distributed to people with a visual impairment worldwide.
The university's environmental management team is delighted that there is such a great willingness to donate. We would like to thank you for your commitment to helping people and improving their quality of life. Andreas Bulcsu from the MachMit environmental management team at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences
The collection points for your spectacle donations, please without hard cases, will continue to be available in the university libraries in Zittau (House X - Mensa/Library) and in Görlitz (House G V - Mensa/Library). The "Brillen Weltweit" campaign is committed to charity and sustainability. All activities are carried out on a voluntary basis and without compensation. The collected spectacles and other medical aids are used exclusively for humanitarian purposes. They are given away free of charge and all visual aids are passed on to non-profit organizations. In this way, the project ensures that the glasses are not added to the commercial cycle. All logistics costs are financed solely through donations. Ecological aspects are also taken into account by ensuring that any recyclable materials produced during processing are properly recycled.
