Setting the course for the future

The second personnel development commission completes its work and provides impetus in various fields of action.

The second Human Resources Development Commission at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences concluded its work on January 29, 2025. Over the past five years, it has supported the implementation of the 2019–2024 Human Resources Development Plan and provided impetus in various areas of action.

Strategic Support for Key Initiatives

Early in its term, the commission decided to make targeted use of the “FH Personnel” and “Professorinnenprogramm III” programs to support the staff development strategy. Over the course of eight meetings, various measures were initiated or further developed.

These include, among others:

  • Staff onboarding: Development of training offerings on topics such as equal treatment, IT security, and data protection, as well as expansion of the mentoring program during onboarding.
  • Leadership: Recommendation to establish a working group to develop guidelines for leadership and collaboration.
  • Staff Motivation: Evaluation and revision of the regulations governing the awarding of performance-based pay and performance bonuses.
  • Staff Training: Introduction of training sessions for equal opportunities officers serving on Tenure Committees and in personnel selection processes.
  • Occupational Safety and Prevention: Support for supervisors through workshops with the Saxony Accident Insurance Fund and the occupational safety specialist.
  • Health Management: Implementation of a university health management program to promote the health of all members of the university.
  • Recruitment: Introduction of application management software to increase efficiency in human resources.


Composition of the Commission

During its term from 2020 to 2025, the committee consisted of the following members: Prof. Kratzsch, Ms. Hollstein (until 2023), Mr. Duscha, Prof. Höse, Prof. Fulland, Ms. Ahrens, and Ms. Kallweit.

During the final meeting on January 29, 2025, the University Executive Board thanked the members for their dedication. The commission was officially discharged by a decision of the University Executive Board on March 3, 2025.

Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences will continue to develop its staff development plan through December 31, 2026. This initiative is also part of the agreement on objectives with the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture, and Tourism (SMWK). The third Staff Development Commission began its work on April 29, 2025.
