On November 25, 2015, our long-standing WANTED job fair took place in Building IV on the Zittau Campus. We were visited by 30 regional, national, and international exhibitors, some of whom have been loyal partners of our university for years and with whom we have a wide variety of collaborative relationships. These included, for example, Areva GmbH, Robert Bosch Elektrowerkzeuge GmbH, Vattenfall, ENSO Energie Sachsen Ost GmbH, SKODA AUTO a.s., ATN Hölzel GmbH, digades GmbH, and fit GmbH. Once again, the companies offered numerous opportunities for internships, thesis topics, and jobs, some of which will certainly be filled by our dedicated students.
This year’s job fair was opened by our Chancellor, Ms. Karin Hollstein . A first for the event was the welcome address delivered by the Mayor of Zittau, Mr. Thomas Zenker. The organizers were delighted that Mr. Zenker accepted the invitation, thereby further strengthening the partnership between the City of Zittau and Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
In addition, participants were once again treated to an extensive supporting program. This included a personalized review of application materials and a free professional headshot session, which has been sponsored by AOK PLUS on multiple occasions. Following the main fair, two workshops were held. For the “Assessment Center” workshop, Mr. Willi Thiele—formerly in charge of HR Marketing & Talent Sourcing at Bombardier—was brought on as a lecturer.
The next job fair in 2016 is expected to take place again at the end of November on the Zittau campus.
