Lecture Evening - The Half-Timbered House in Its Surroundings
The HSZG is actively involved in preserving the landscape of half-timbered houses in Upper Lusatia.
This year’s annual lecture evening hosted by the Umgebindehaus Information Center focused on Umgebindehouses and their surroundings.
On May 22, homeowners, architects, and Umgebindehaus enthusiasts listened to presentations ranging from the history of settlements and houses to the exterior design of Umgebindehäuser, suitable garden landscaping, and charming details such as wells and outhouses* in the garden.
The interesting and entertaining presentations captivated the audience for more than 3 hours. The organizers would like to thank the speakers—Diplom-Ing. Wieland Menzel, Dipl.-Arch. Kerstin Richter, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Schurig, Dipl.-Ing. Ulrike Neumann, and Hans-Peter Nestler, as well as to all attendees for the lively discussion and exchange of experiences.
The series of annual lecture evenings will continue on May 27, 2020. The lecture topics will be selected from suggestions made by the participants.
