The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences recommends its Master's degree programme in “integrated management systems” to prospective students. Classes for the second cohort of this still “new” degree programme will begin in the upcoming summer semester, on March 7, 2016. The application deadline is February 26, 2016.
More and more companies are required to demonstrate certified management systems to meet customer or legal requirements. Students in the “Master's degree programme in integrated management systems” explore the requirements of quality, environmental, energy, and occupational safety management systems and examine how companies can optimize their processes in these areas by integrating these management systems.
“We are targeting graduates with a seven-semester Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences, environmental engineering, or (industrial) engineering who wish to deepen their specialized knowledge from their Bachelor’s or diploma program and supplement it with management, methodological, and social competence,” says Professor Jana Brauweiler, program director of the three-semester Master's degree programme.
The concept behind this unique degree programme is proving successful. Even in the programme’s first year, a close-knit network of companies was established. During their studies, students work on projects at regional companies, such as the further development of quality and environmental management systems in accordance with the new ISO standards or the optimization of an energy report. Contacts are forged during so-called “IMS breakfasts, ” where students and company representatives meet to exchange experiences and agree on joint projects.
“The feedback from the professional world regarding this degree programme has been consistently positive so far and reflects the demand for specialists in this field,” says Jana Brauweiler.
Career opportunities after graduation are diverse: management representative in companies, person responsible for planning and permitting procedures in businesses and government agencies, as well as consultant, assessor, and expert.
