Vice President of KGU Kostroma Visits Zittau
Fourth German-Russian study certificates awarded.
On the sidelines of Intercultural Week, the Vice President for Education and International Relations, Prof. Dr. Olga Skryabina and the Vice President for Education and International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Christa M. Heidger, discussed possible future collaboration between the engineering departments of Kostroma State University (RUS) and Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The Vice Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Kästner, also participated in the informational meeting. In Görlitz, the participants met with the university’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Friedrich Albrecht.
German-Russian study certificates were awarded on May 10 in Görlitz for active participation in the “Zittau/Görlitz International Week 2019.” The joint certificate of study, focusing on “Intercultural Understanding, Intercultural Communication, and Regional Studies,” was awarded for the fourth time. Cooperation partners include the Institute for Humanities and Social Technologies at Kostroma State University and the “Studium Fundamentale” program at HSZG. The program is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Olga Pankratova and Lecturer Dr. Tamara Denisova (both from Kostroma State University), as well as Honorary Professor Dr. Klaus Werner and Frank Schneider (both from HSZG).
This year’s week welcomed the following visiting scholars: Prof. Dr. Viktor Litvinovic from Minsk State Linguistic University (Belarus), Prof. Dr. Irina Kalacheva from Minsk State University (Belarus), Dr. Anna Lomonosova from the St. Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON) (Russia), and Prof. Dr. Marina Metz from the Evangelical University of Social Work in Darmstadt.
Since 2011, German students enrolled in the “Studium Fundamentale” program have been participating in an intercultural summer school in Kostroma. The two universities have maintained a wide range of academic ties for more than ten years as part of a higher education partnership. As a concrete result of the summer school, another student from the HSZG plans to spend a semester abroad in Kostroma, and in September 2019, 15 German students will once again travel to Kostroma State University for a summer school.
Two students from Görlitz actively supported the organization of Intercultural Week. They were involved in the “International Study Buddy Program” as part of the Studium Fundamentale. The project is funded by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Foreign Office (AA).
