Many hands make a small contribution

The Academic Choir Zittau/Görlitz e.V. is committed to helping people in need in Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine has triggered a great deal of solidarity, and the Academic Choir Zittau/Görlitz, like so many others, has also started to get involved. "We met a lot of great people on a concert tour in 2017. Now, at the beginning of March, we asked how we can help effectively," says Anja Uhlemann.

In addition to help with their departure and arrival in Germany, this has also resulted in a direct donation to Vladislav, a Catholic priest in Kharkiv. The choir is in constant contact with him and regularly transfers 500 euros to him. He currently accommodates 49 people in the cellar of his church, and also travels to the suburbs of Kharkiv and visits people in the city who live in cellars without electricity, water or light.

Pastor Vladislav brings warm food, other foodstuffs, medicines and clothing. "Even when we first met five years ago, he was constantly on the go for those in need, bringing a regular lunch and providing medical care. We would like to support Vladislav financially, especially now, but also in the long term."

The choir regularly provides information about the amount and use of donations on the website www.in-terra-pax.eu and is now setting up a donation community. The idea is for many people to make a small monthly contribution, e.g. 5 or 10 euros. In this way, monthly support can continue to be transferred to Vladislav. All donations will be forwarded directly to Ukraine and any costs incurred will be covered by the choir association. "We would also like to thank Sparkasse Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien for their uncomplicated support."  The donation account can be found on the website.
