The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, the
University del Valle
Ana Milena Jimenez Ocampo, the chairwoman of the NGO "DapaViva" from Colombia, is a guest at the
Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences
During her stay, she organized the Environment Day on November 4 at the university's Görlitz campus on the topic of "Rainforests and cloud forests: Plundered treasure troves of nature" and presented DapaViva together with Armin Hirche. Their topic was "The mountain that moved and the river that disappeared - environmental protection in the Colombian Andes".

Various meetings with Vice President for Education and International Affairs Prof. Christa Heidger resulted in a lively exchange of ideas. Promising ideas for further cooperation were developed. The aim now is to bring these ideas to life. Both partners, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the NGO "DapaViva" in support of the University del Valle from Colombia, will contribute creatively to this. "DapaViva" is concerned with the preservation and protection of the mountain cloud forests of the western Andes.
The agreement provides for the existing cooperation to be further deepened and intensified.
The signatories expect particular benefits from a constant exchange of students and scientists, especially in the fields of ecology and environmental protection. The Vice President herself is planning a teaching visit to the Universidad del Valle in the coming year.
