"Dream job professor?"

The lecture hall is good in attendance. Everyone is diligently taking notes on what the professor is presenting in her lecture. One student watches her very closely and asks herself the question that keeps popping into her mind: Could that be something for me, too—being a professor? To teach, to do research, to constantly challenge myself?

The current issue of the university magazine “EINBLICK” addresses precisely this topic. Exploring the balance between self-fulfillment, career, and calling, under the cover story “Is Being a Professor a Dream Job?” the magazine highlights the remarkable contributions and achievements of women at our university and beyond.

With the overview “Your Path to a Professorship!,” we explain at a glance to aspiring professors all the steps involved in becoming a professor at HAW. Readers can also look behind the scenes with the section “HSZG in Numbers.” In a profile, former HSZG Chancellor Karin Hollstein looks back on her long tenure.

The latest news from the university—covering research, teaching, and our international activities—rounds out the magazine. In addition to the new Chancellor, the magazine also introduces the newly appointed professors and visiting professors at HSZG.

Whether it’s stories about balancing studies, careers, and motherhood; profiles of accomplished women at the university and in rural areas; or conversations about self-fulfillment in the lab and at the desk. “EINBLICK” shines a spotlight on the immense potential and creativity found in our female students, graduates, faculty, staff, researchers, and professors. This issue was produced at the initiative of the team behind the Women Professors Program at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The program, which has been supported by the federal and state governments since 2007, aims to promote gender equality in the academic system in a sustainable manner.
