Team building outdoors

The Macro Properties/Match3 project kicked off in the Zittau Mountains.

The demands placed on university graduates now go far beyond the mastery of subject-specific knowledge. Working in project structures and the different roles that are a daily reality in a business context or in teams require graduates to have communicative and organizational skills, as well as a command of business and management fundamentals. These are crucial for taking on project and management responsibility. In the competence program for macro-properties, training opportunities are created that enable students to develop their skills in this context in a targeted manner.

The first event in the project was a full-day team-building seminar for the "Integrated Management Systems" and "Integrated Management" Master's degree courses. While the Master's students on the four-semester "Integrated Management" course have been studying at the university since October 2015, the Master's students on the "Integrated Management Systems" course only started their three-semester course at the beginning of March. A team-building day was held on 09.03.2016 to help the two degree courses get to know each other. The two groups study together in lectures and seminars and will carry out various projects together in small groups over the next two semesters. The group of 15 students and two lecturers first took the narrow-gauge railroad to Oybin, where the trainers from "Geofux" were already waiting with instructions. From there, a two-and-a-half-hour hike led via Jonsdorf to Waltersdorf. The breaks were used for short games to get to know each other. Once they arrived in Waltersdorf, they had lunch at the Sonnenbergbaude restaurant. A multi-geocache was then solved under the guidance of Geofux employees. Two teams were formed within the group: "forestry workers" and "hydraulic engineers". At several stations, puzzles had to be solved and tasks mastered in order to obtain clues or aids for the next station. At the last station, a reward was waiting to be shared out among everyone. All in all, it was a very successful day that helped everyone get to know each other and still has an impact today!
