Open Monument Day
Building ZI – The renovated HSZG headquarters was unveiled to the interested public.
Zittau, September 11, 2016: The highlight of the presentation of the building complex, which was renovated in accordance with historic preservation guidelines, was the successful premiere of the film documenting the renovation. “We are proud to have brought this building back to life,” reports Dipl.-Ing. Jens Krauße—the architect in charge and project manager at the architectural firm Heinle, Wischer, and Partner. The challenges of documenting the renovation on film were quite complex. The producer, Mr. Christian Fietze of CFilm Görlitz, commented: “It is indeed difficult, because this isn’t a feature film where I can create a movie according to my own vision; rather, here we were dependent on when specific construction work or divisions would be completed and which interviewees would be available to me.”
In total, around 450 visitors took the opportunity to learn on-site about the results of the renovation. During guided tours of the building, visitors came to realize that there was more to admire than just a renovated structure. More than 55 km of high-voltage cables and 73 km of data lines were installed in the building to supply the state-of-the-art laboratories of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with power and data.
