Open Monument Day

The HSZG's main campus—the former Higher Weaving School—is opening its doors.

Suppose stones could talk—what stories would Haus ZI—the original building of today’s Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences—tell us? Perhaps one from the past, about its construction in 1898. Or one from the present, about its reconstruction. Since stones cannot speak, we’ll take on that role and span the arc from 1898 to the present day—from the Building’s history of education, through the challenges of its reconstruction, to the demands of a modern academic program today. Building ZI: a stone testament to the history of education.

Zittau is rich in architectural landmarks—41 historic buildings will be open for this year’s Open Monument Day on September 11, 2016, in Zittau, including the renovated main building of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
