Environment Day 2016 in Zittau

Following Environment Day on October 19, 2016, in Görlitz, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG) and the City of Zittau would like to host an event on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at the Zittau campus—also under the motto “Today’s Textile Industry: Clothes Make the Man”— to shed light on various aspects of the textile and apparel industry, highlight risks and opportunities, and discuss challenges.

Lectures, film screenings, and exhibitions exploring the history of the textile industry offer plenty of “fabric” and an opportunity to delve into the industrial sector that has had a decisive impact on our region.

Following the official welcome by the Prorector and Zittau’s Mayor Thomas Zenker at the Peter-Dierich-Building (Z V), Theodor-Körner-Allee 8, Room 0.02, the presentations “The History of Textiles in Upper Lusatia” and “Environmental Awareness in Textile Finishing” will provide interesting insights into the topic.

After the break, the company WESOM will explain what technical textiles are capable of, and the Weltladen Zittau will cover everything related to FairFashion through the presentations “Technical & Smart Textiles” and “The Slow Fashion Perspective, ” before the panel discussion with Prof. Dr. B. Delakowitz begins.

We’ll also make sure you’re well fed. After the panel discussion, the Volksküche Zittau will be serving vegan meals at affordable prices in the foyer of the Peter-Dierich-Building (Z V). This will give you time to visit our exhibitions or engage in further discussions on the topic of “textiles” before we invite you to our free screening of “The True Cost” in Room 0.01.
