Study where others go on vacation

South Africa - International exchange program of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science starts in 2017

The attractiveness of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is being further enhanced. Zittau students studying "Electrical Energy Systems" and "Automation Technology and Mechatronics" will be able to complete part of their studies at North-West University Potchefstroom (NWU) in South Africa. Students from South Africa will also be studying in Zittau from 2017.

Province my ass. The big wide world also goes from Zittau. This is also confirmed by the latest university ranking (CHE ranking), where the mechatronics course in Zittau in particular was given an excellent rating. The course can already be combined with partial studies at various universities around the world. Now a further cooperation has been added. During a visit to South Africa in the spring, the director of the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, Prof. George van Schoor, and Prof. Frank Worlitz from the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences developed a concept for a mutual student exchange. Last week, the planning of the exchange project was further refined during a visit by Prof. van Schoor to Zittau.

The first students from South Africa are expected to spend a year at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences from March 2017. In the following year at the latest, students from the local university will also be able to study in South Africa for either one or two semesters. This gives students the opportunity to gain international experience during their studies and prepare themselves optimally for their professional life. The cooperation is undoubtedly also recognition of the quality of engineering education at the university in the border triangle.

The formal signing of the agreement will take place in October by the rectors of both institutions in South Africa.
