Students analyze software for integrated management systems (IMS)
There has never been anything like it before. The resulting market overview provides companies with considerable support in their choice of software.
According to our research, there has never been anything like this before: a market overview of currently available IMS software alternatives, complete with a thorough analysis of their compliance with standards.
As part of the “Software Applications” module in the Master's degree programmes “Integrated ManagementSystems” and“Integrated Management,” our students, in collaboration with the TÜV Rheinland Group and TÜV Media GmbH, evaluated the offerings of national and international IMS software providers. As a first step, the analysis criteria for the software were compiled and clustered. In a second step, a list of current providers of IMS software at the national and international levels was compiled. Subsequently, the IMS software from selected providers was analyzed, and the results were presented clearly and in accordance with the established criteria.
The analysis results were published as a contribution in the renowned anthology *Der TÜV Environmental Management-Berater*, a standard reference work for anyone active in the field of (Environmental) Management systems.
This provides companies considering the use of software for their integrated management system with a good information base and foundation for decision-making. Organizations face challenges when selecting suitable software, as there are many providers on the market and decision-making criteria vary depending on the company.
The next step is to publish the paper as an e-book. We are very pleased with the recognition of the achievements of our students and our team, and we would like to thank everyone involved for their analytical work, which was not always easy.
