Electricity meets amazement!

At the "Ring on Feier" Festival of Light in Zittau, the high-voltage technology team enchanted the audience with a specially built Tesla transformer that made recycled fluorescent tubes shine again.

On August 30, 2025, the Grüner Ring in Zittau was transformed into a sparkling stage: At the “Ring on Feier” Festival of Light, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences presented a spectacular performance that left many visitors in awe.

The High-Voltage Engineering Department of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science built a custom Tesla transformer to illuminate recycled fluorescent tubes arranged in the shape of the HSZG logo. In a secured area, the transformer generated impressive electric fields. Spectacular electrical discharges and the glowing tubes lent the evening a very special atmosphere.

The Student Council of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was also represented at the Festival of Light with a booth and an impressive light show, which drew many visitors.

HSZG meets Ring on Feier!

The "Ring on Feier" festival transforms the Zittau city ring into a wonderful world of light, art, music, performances and culinary delights - organized by "Tradition und Zukunft Zittau e.V." and created with great commitment by volunteers from the region.
