Start for Senate and Extended Senate
The newly elected Senate and Extended Senate held their constituent meetings on October 21.
On Monday, October 21, 2024, the Senate and Extended Senate met for their first regular meetings. The senators, newly elected for a five-year term, and the advisory members met at 2:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. on the Zittau campus.
Both meetings included parts for the university public. Among other things, the responsibilities of both bodies for the term of office from 01.09.2024 to 31.08.2029 were explained. At the Extended Senate meeting, the Chancellor also provided information on the procedure for the election of the Rector for the upcoming term of office from 01.03.2025 to 28.02.2030.
In accordance with Section 84 SächsHSG, the Senate, together with the Extended Senate, the Rectorate and the University Council, is one of the central bodies of the university. During the lecture period in the academic year, the Senate meets once a month and deals with and decides on important matters concerning the HSZG. The complete area of responsibility of this body is regulated by the Saxon Higher Education Act in § 85.
