A strong start to 2026!

What a January! What a start to the new year!

The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences kicked off 2026 with a great response, numerous discussions, and a special award. Several events in January impressively demonstrate the strong interest in studying at the HSZG and confirm its role as an attractive university with a personal atmosphere and practice-oriented degree programs.

Online College Information Day Delights Prospective Students

The series kicked off on January 15, 2026, with the online university information day, which gave prospective students a comprehensive look at the university’s academic offerings. A total of 34 degree programs were presented, complemented by student sessions, sample lectures, information booths, and live panel discussions.

The response was consistently positive: Participants particularly highlighted the personal insights shared by students as well as the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. It is also noteworthy that the event’s visibility increased significantly: Page views on the event website more than doubled compared to the previous year.

Many of the participants came from the Saxony region and neighboring counties, underscoring the university’s strong regional roots. At the same time, the interest in a diverse range of degree programs highlights the broad academic spectrum offered by HSZG.

High Demand and In-Depth Discussions at the KarriereStart Trade Show

From January 23 to 25, HSZG participated in the KarriereStart fair in Dresden with great success. The university’s booth was very well attended, with counseling sessions taking place continuously at times. Visitors showed particular interest in degree programmes such as Social Work, childhood education, teacher training, the Foundation course in management, as well as the dual and cooperative study programs.

The mobile learning space, the Airlab university trailer, once again proved to be a real eye-catcher and attracted numerous interested visitors. Personal counseling sessions and the program overviews were also very well received by visitors.

Regional Presence at the “Zukunftsnavi” in Bautzen

The successful month concluded with participation in the “Zukunftsnavi” career fair on January 31, 2026, in Bautzen. The event provided an important platform for study orientation for regional high school students. The HSZG’s dual and cooperative degree programs, in particular, generated significant interest. A total of 22 in-depth counseling sessions on these study models were held. Due to the positive response, the fair will remain a regular feature of the university’s academic orientation activities in the future.

StudyCheck Award Confirms High Satisfaction

Early this year, the university also received special recognition: According to the StudyCheck Ranking 2026, the University of Zittau/Görlitz is the most popular university in Saxony. This award is based on evaluations by students and alumni and underscores the high level of satisfaction with academic conditions, student support, and the academic atmosphere.
