Michael Oeljeklaus, Board Member for Production and Logistics, visits the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
On 22.06.16, a lecture on "Industry 4.0 - practical implementation at Skoda" was held at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering as part of the Production Engineering I course. The lecturer was Dipl.-Ing. Michael Oeljeklaus, Board Member for Production and Logistics at the Skoda main plant in Mlada Boleslaw (CZ). The lecture took place at the invitation of Mr. M.A. Dipl.-Ing. Martin Sturm, deputy professor for production engineering, production metrology and quality assurance, and aimed to deepen the practical relevance of the subject matter taught in production engineering using current examples from the automotive industry.
In the course of this event, together with the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Dr.-Ing habil. Hans-Joachim Kretzschmar, the foundations for future potential research activities between the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Skoda Auto a.s. were also laid. Possibilities for closer cooperation in student training in the context of diploma and master's theses were also discussed.
Skoda has a high demand for specialists in the field of engineering, which cannot currently be met by Czech universities and colleges alone. According to Mr. Oeljeklaus, the favourable geographical location of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the comprehensive training, especially in the mechanical engineering specializations of design engineering and production technology, are very beneficial to this development. It is planned to hold regular events of this or a similar form in Zittau and Mlada Boleslaw in the future. This is another important step in the internationalization activities of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
