Quick information for a better overview

The equipment database of the HSZG facilitates the university-wide search for expertise and equipment.

Since 2020, the HSZG Equipment Database equipment.hszg.de has provided students, staff, and the public with a valuable research tool that offers new insights into the extensive technical equipment available at the university’s constituent units.

To date, 33 colleagues have entered and categorized over 180 pieces of equipment—including experimental setups—into this database, enriching the entries with data sheets, technical drawings, and additional information. This makes it even easier to find the right technology and expertise.

Through keyword indexing, cross-references to the HSZG’s Research Information System (FIS), links to combinable equipment, assignments to faculties and institutes, and the listing of contact persons, a valuable and sought-after knowledge network has already emerged.

Every faculty and institute is cordially invited to increase the visibility of its own expertise and fields of activity and to contribute to the diversity of the database.

For example, the Institute for Process Engineering, Process Automation, and Measurement Technology (IPM) is already using the available interface of the equipment database in combination with the interface of the Research Information System (FIS) to automatically generate content for the annual research report. This has made it possible to increase visibility through structured inventory management, while simultaneously saving time on report preparation and significantly reducing potential sources of error.
