Saxony5 enters the second round

In 2018, the five Saxon universities of applied sciences joined forces in the “Saxony5” project to collaborate even more closely on knowledge transfer and the joint communication of their research. The basis for this initiative was the “Innovative University” funding call issued by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Joint Science Conference (GWK), along with a successful grant proposal.

Building on their previous collaboration, the five universities decided in 2021 to submit a new, enhanced project proposal for the period 2023–2027, which was submitted in early December following intensive consultations with many stakeholders.

On May 5, it was announced that Saxony⁵ is among the selected applicants who will receive funding for another five years. We are very pleased with this decision. It ensures that we can maintain and expand the networks and structures we have painstakingly built up over the past 4.5 years—especially against the backdrop of the pandemic—for another five years. Our goal will be to continue operating CELSIUZ as an attractive co-creation lab, to make it available to you, and to further develop it. We want to make the research conducted at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences even more visible—to citizens, businesses in the region, other research institutions, and also within our own university.
