Rector in the chair of the LRK Saxony
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kratzsch, Rector of the HSZG, was elected Deputy Chairman of the Saxony Rectors' Conference.
On November 30, 2023, the members of the Saxony State Rectors’ Conference (LRK) re-elected Prof. Dr. Barbknecht as chair of the executive board at their meeting. The presidents of Saxony’s public universities voted in favor of a third term for the president of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
In addition to this re-election, new elections were held for the positions of Vice Chairs. From the group of universities of applied sciences , the president of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kratzsch, was elected vice-chairman, effective December 1, 2023. In the future, he will also serve as the spokesperson for the universities of applied sciences.
It is a particularly great honor for me to be able to represent the interests of Saxony’s universities as Vice Chair of the Saxony State Rectors’ Conference, effective immediately, and to play an active role in shaping and further developing Saxony’s higher education landscape.

In this regard, constructive cooperation between the Saxony State Rectors’ Conference and the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) is particularly close to his heart. “I am all the more pleased that the LRK Saxony decided at its general assembly on November 30 to appoint me to the HRK Senate effective December 1, 2023,” said the rector. “I am very grateful for the trust placed in me.”
Alongside him, Agnes Wegner, president of the University of Visual Arts in Leipzig, was appointed vice chair from the group of art universities.
