"Reflective work in voluntary work"

The variety of elective options in our university’s “Studium Fundamentale ” (Interdisciplinary Competencies) will be expanded starting in the 2024/25 winter semester with a new elective module titled “Reflective Work in Volunteer Service.” This module offers students a unique opportunity to get personally involved while gaining valuable insights into the world of volunteer work.

As part of the “Reflective Volunteer Work” module (module number: 299550), students choose a volunteer activity that aligns with their interests and passions beyond the boundaries of their major. This activity must be voluntary, unpaid, oriented toward the common good, and in accordance with the Constitution in order to meet the ethical and legal standards of volunteer work. In addition to the actual volunteer work, the module includes accompanying sessions in which students learn about the definition and function of volunteer work. They gain insights into various areas of volunteer work and have the opportunity to share and reflect on their own experiences.

The goal of the module is for students, on the one hand, to make a positive contribution to society and, on the other hand, to further their personal and professional development through reflective engagement with their volunteer work. We are convinced that the “Reflective Volunteer Work” module will be an enriching experience for our students and will help foster a culture of engagement and social responsibility.
