University Commissioned to Conduct Quality Assessment

In its agreement on objectives with the Saxon State Ministry of Science and the Arts, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences has set itself the goal of having its quality management system for academic programs and teaching accredited in accordance with the rules of the Accreditation Council by 2020. With the signing of an accreditation agreement before the end of the year, the formal groundwork for this was laid, and the accreditation agency ASIIN e. V. was commissioned to carry out the system accreditation process.

Rector Prof. Dr. Friedrich Albrecht is pleased to have found in ASIIN e. V. a trusted partner for verifying the conformity of the university’s internal quality assurance procedures and processes with the requirements of system accreditation: “ASIIN has already evaluated several of our degree program clusters in recent years as part of program accreditation. The processes were always very constructive, collaborative, and professional. I am confident that this will continue to be the case in system accreditation as well.”

As a first step, the university is currently preparing its application for admission to system accreditation. This application is a prerequisite for initiating the actual accreditation process, which will consist primarily of a review of the university’s self-documentation and audits lasting several days at our campuses. The Accreditation Commission for Quality Management Systems of ASIIN e. V. is expected to make a decision on the application for admission by the middle of this year.
