On the road in France
Prof. Raj Kollmorgen reflects on "35 years of German unification and the challenges of the present" during his lecture tour in the southwest of France.
Prof. Raj Kollmorgen (Faculty ofSocial Sciences/TRAWOS Institute) visited southwestern France from March 16 to 21, 2025, at the invitation of the Goethe-Institut Toulouse. His trip took him from Bordeaux to Toulouse via Pau. In addition to discussions with colleagues from various universities and cultural institutions—including talks about potential academic collaborations—Prof. Kollmorgen gave several lectures during his stay.
While he spoke—among other things—at the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (UPPA) in Pau, organized by the Heinrich Mann Institute there, on right-wing populism in East Germany, he also gave a lecture at the Université Toulouse Capitole on “35 Years of German Reunification and the Challenges of the Present.”
In his discussions and lectures, Prof. Kollmorgen also spoke about the university’s teaching and research profile as well as the structural transformation processes in Lausitz and the tri-border region. The transnational dimensions of the German-Polish-Czech border region, in particular, met with great interest from the hosts. The discussions are set to continue.
Colleagues interested in a linguistic, cultural, or academic exchange with the aforementioned regions and institutions are welcome to contact Prof. Kollmorgen.
