Exploiting the potential of digitalization
On February 4, 2021, the first Zittau Plastics and Lightweight Construction Conference successfully took place completely online.
As a virtual conference and networking event organized by Zittau University of Applied Sciences/Görlitz and the Fraunhofer Plastics Center Upper Lusatia, the first Zittau Plastics and Lightweight Construction Conference featured a wide range of presentations on digitalization for small and medium-sized enterprises in general and for the plastics and lightweight construction industries in particular. Six high-profile speakers from academia and industry provided insightful perspectives on both innovative plant systems and methods as well as best-practice examples from successful companies in the industry.
The first Zittau Plastics and Lightweight Construction Conference took place as part of the EU project “DigiNetPolSax – Digitalization for the Common Economic Area.” The project aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the Saxon-Polish border region by promoting cross-border cooperation, as well as to define and highlight its economic strengths. It is co-financed by the European Union with funds from the European Regional Development Fund as part of the INTERREG Poland-Saxony 2014–2020 cooperation program.
Over 150 companies, interest groups, researchers, and students from Saxony, Poland, and the Czech Republic participated in the event online. In addition to the engaging presentations, which were simultaneously translated, participants were treated to a digital accompanying exhibition, an international cooperation exchange, and custom-designed virtual spaces for exploration and networking.
