Original names wanted for canteens in Zittau and Görlitz
"There's a moment every day when everyone is thinking the same thing: the student canteen."
For many years, the Dresden 'Studentenwerk' (student union) has been holding naming contests for its student canteens to raise their profile and establish a distinct identity.
These contests have already yielded some original names for student canteens, such as “Stimm-Gabel” for the student canteen at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden and “Mensologie” for the student canteen on the medical campus of the Technical University of Dresden.
We’re looking for catchy, funny names—preferably ones that reference the location or other unique features—for the student canteens in Zittau (Hochwaldstraße Student Canteen) and Görlitz. The names should ideally consist of a single word. Coined words are acceptable.
Let your creativity run wild and please send a maximum of three suggestions per student canteen under the subject line “Student Canteen Name Contest” by July 5 to namenswettbewerb@studentenwerk-dresden.de.
The winner will receive 150 euros, and the second- and third-place winners will each receive 75 euros. In addition, small prizes will be awarded to the top 10 entries.
The respective winner transfers all rights of use for the name to the 'Studentenwerk' (student union) in Dresden.
All students and staff members of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences
and the International University Institute (IHI) Zittau (TU Dresden) are eligible to participate.
