"Ohrbooten" and "Budzillus" rock Zittau

Following the university open house, "Campus Rocks! 2015" will take place this Saturday.

No university would be complete without a proper Campus Open Air—what a stroke of luck for the students at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, since the festivities will take place at two locations! Following a spectacular Campus Open Air last Friday in Görlitz, the

“undefined ” “Campus rockt! 2015”

will take place on Saturday, June 13, in Zittau. Unlike usual, it won’t be held directly on the university campus but in the garage courtyard of the Star-Club Zittau.

Due to construction at the Fraunhofer Institute, the previous location was no longer available. This charming “workaround” in the garage courtyard at the Star-Club Zittau offers several advantages—for one, much of the necessary infrastructure is already in place and ready to use. In addition, the historic garage complex—located within sight of the university—offers wonderful possibilities, such as housing the food stands in the large garages, and provides numerous opportunities for creative lighting of the grounds. The event kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with a diverse lineup to suit every taste.

This year’s headliners are

, who blend elements of reggae, ragga, alternative, and hip-hop into their music. This band has been grooving its way through the music world for 12 years now. Their very first demo recordings caught the attention of Die Toten Hosen, who signed them to their in-house record label, JKP, in 2005 and released three albums. MTV has them in rotation, and at festivals like Rock am Ring, Hurricane, and Chiemsee Reggae Summer, they amaze audiences with their groundbreaking energy.

from Berlin has also emerged in recent years as one of Berlin’s most successful bands with their mix of swing, surf, punk, and a healthy dose of Eastern European soul.

and Herzig from Nuremberg deliver “Powerrock Made in Germany,” while local artists such as rapper Porta One and singer-songwriter Schraubenyeti from Görlitz are also featured. The event will be hosted by comedian Thomas Jurisch from Dresden, who is already familiar to many Zittau residents from the poetry slam at the Star Club.

Catering for “Campus rockt!” will be provided by the student café at Christian Weise Gymnasium, Emil e.V., and F-Matrix e.V.

Admission is free from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.!

Following the open-air concert, the fun continues with an after-show party featuring DJ T-Cool and Deejay DaRoxX starting around 11:00 p.m. at the Star Club.
