UNECON, the long-standing partner university of our Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, has established its first International Supervisory Council (ISC) (www.en.unecon.ru).
This new governing body advises the University Executive Board on all matters related to the development and implementation of its strategic realignment as it strives to join the ranks of elite international universities. Through excellent research, outstanding teaching, the consistent transfer of knowledge into practice, and even greater International Affairs, Saint Petersburg State University of Economics aims to further expand its leading position during the 2020–2025 period.
Prof. Clemens Renker from Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences has been appointed to this committee (Photo: 4th from the right in the front row with members of the supervisory board and the University Executive Board). Prof. Dr. Rudolf Faltermeier of the Technical University of Munich was elected chairman. He served successfully for many years on the executive board of the Bavarian Savings Banks Association in Munich, as CEO of Sparkasse Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and on the supervisory boards of numerous companies. As a lawyer, certified public accountant, and tax advisor, he brings extensive expertise and a global network to the board. In addition to the Rector, Prof. Dr. Igor A. Maximtsev, the board includes Patricia Dowden, president of the Center for Business Ethics and Corporate Governance in Philadelphia, USA; Kari Hyppönen, President of the Baltic Sea Region University Network and an OECD manager; Gabriele Kötschau, former Vice President of the State Parliament of Schleswig-Holstein and current Director of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce; and the renowned international expert and Director of the Institute for German and International Law of Savings, Banking and Credit at the University of Mainz and the Technical University of Darmstadt.
