New bread roll provider in Zittau

After the Dresden 'Studentenwerk' cafeteria, located in Building Z VII, closed at the end of the 2014–15 winter semester, the Dresden 'Studentenwerk' provision of meals for students at the Zittau campus was concentrated at the main cafeteria on Hochwaldstraße.

Since classes in Building Z VII sometimes end as late as 8:00 p.m., this situation was unacceptable to the Mechanical Engineering Student Council. Together with the Mechanical Engineering Department administration, they worked with the 'Studentenwerk' (student union) in Dresden to find a solution. They also received support from Chancellor Karin Hollstein as well as from the members of the Senate of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. This joint effort proved successful.

At the start of the 2016 summer semester, a break room was set up in Room 107. With the newly installed bread roll vending machine, adequate refreshments are once again available during breaks. The selection and prices for rolls and sweets are the same as those in the student canteen. The machine is restocked daily by the staff of the Zittau student canteen.
