"After HIS comes MACH" - Administration in transition

On October 19, 2016, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and MACH AG held a joint kick-off event for the introduction of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in the university's administration.

The ERP software from MACH AG is to be introduced uniformly at all Saxon universities of applied sciences, art and music colleges as well as at the universities in Leipzig, Freiberg and Chemnitz by 2019 as part of the joint project EVS (ERP Network System of Saxon Universities) and will replace the HIS administration system used to date. 

The aim of the new ERP software is to use existing resources (financial resources, operating resources, personnel, space) as efficiently as possible in everyday university life and to improve business processes within the university. All in all, the ERP software is a complex application software to support resource planning for the entire university.

"MACH WITH" was the message that Ms. Mankopf, representing MACH AG, called to the attention of the 60 participants from the faculties, institutes, staff units, departments and the university's rectorate. As a project team, we can only agree with this message. Over the next few years, the introduction of the MACH software will require the commitment of all those directly involved, but also the support of all users in the university's structural units. 

The agenda for the kick-off event included a presentation by Chancellor Karin Hollstein (Dipl.- Jur.) on how the joint project came about and the project organization within the university. Further presentations were given by the guest speakers from MACH AG and BDO AG on the joint project and project management, which were followed by lively discussions and questions from the participants. The brief insight into the MACH software was also interesting and gave a small foretaste of the new system.
