"After HIS comes MACH" - Administration in transition

On October 19, 2016, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and MACH AG held a joint kickoff event to introduce an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system into the university’s administration.

The ERP software from MACH AG is scheduled to be implemented uniformly at all Saxon universities of applied sciences, art and music colleges, as well as at the universities in Leipzig, Freiberg, and Chemnitz by 2019 and replace the HIS administrative system used to date.

The goal of the new ERP software is to utilize existing resources (financial resources, operational resources, personnel, and space) as efficiently as possible in the University’s day-to-day operations and to improve business processes within the University. Overall, the ERP software is a complex application designed to support resource planning across the entire University.

“JOIN IN” was the message that Ms. Mankopf, as a representative of MACH AG, conveyed to the 60 participants from the University’s faculties, institutes, administrative offices, departments, divisions, and the University Executive Board. As the project team, we can only endorse this message. The implementation of the MACH software will require the commitment of all those directly involved over the next few years, as well as the support of all users across the University’s organizational units.

The agenda for the kickoff event included a presentation by Chancellor Dipl.-Jur. Karin Hollstein on the origins of the joint project and the project organization within the University. Additional presentations were given by guest speakers from MACH AG and BDO AG on the joint project and project management, which were followed by lively discussions sparked by questions from the participants. Also of interest was the brief overview of the MACH software, which provided a small preview of the new system.
