The job holder has the following tasks in particular:

• Working in the circulation and user service including processing reservations and renewals, collecting fees and providing information on the catalog, research, databases, etc,
• Research in the catalog and/or union system on request,
• Support of the electronic library system including the creation of user accounts and processing of electronic orders,
• placing media and ensuring the shelving system is in order,
• Collaboration in the course of business
  • Inventory and sorting of journals and DINs at the Görlitz site,
  • Processing loose-leaf collections,
  • sorting in the library and network system,
• Instruction and supervision of student assistants,
• Magazine support/maintenance of the book stock,
• Support, updating and maintenance of the presentation screens as well as maintenance and updating of the physical advertising media and
• Support with digitization tasks.

The following knowledge and skills are required

• Vocational qualification as a specialist in media and information services, an equivalent qualification or many years of experience in librarianship,
• knowledge of and confidence in using databases and the library software LIBERO,
• proficiency in English,
• technical understanding.

The following are also desirable

• further language skills (e.g. Polish, Czech),
• Experience in the areas of University Administration and structures,
• interest in new trends and technologies in the field of application in the University Library.
