Full steam ahead

The HSZG welcomes the new KIA students of Deutsche Bahn with a trip to the Zittau Mountains.

On Friday, August 29, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences warmly welcomed its ten new KIA students from Deutsche Bahn. Traditionally, the focus was on getting to know the first-year students and the students from the higher years. A varied day program was designed to promote a lively exchange and cooperation within the student body.

After traveling together, the group started with a ride on the historic narrow-gauge railroad, which provided an atmospheric prelude. Afterwards, the group enjoyed a barbecue at the steam train café in Oybin, which provided an opportunity for initial discussions and the establishment of new contacts. The rest of the program took the students on a hike to the Töpfer, where the focus was equally on experiencing nature and exercise. The students spent the evening together and explored Zittau's gastronomy.

The second day was all about railroads. The AG Grubenbahn at Olbersdorfer See offered interesting insights into the regional cultural and technical history. A ride on the mine train was also a must. Joint sporting activities rounded off the day, which once again strengthened the team spirit of the participants.

This welcome program created a successful basis for cooperation in the new academic year. The university is delighted to welcome its new students to the community and looks forward to a varied and successful period of study together with all year groups.
