Under the motto “Get to know us!”, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences will open its doors on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at its two campuses in Zittau and Görlitz. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., prospective students and their parents can look forward to an extensive, interesting, and diverse program.

The main venue in Zittau is the Peter-Dierich-Haus, the lecture hall building (Building Z IV) at Theodor-Körner-Allee 8 in Zittau. The focus here is on engineering, natural sciences, and business administration, with degree programs in chemistry, electrical engineering, and business administration, Energy and environmental engineering, Mechanical Engineering, mechatronics, Molecular Biotechnology, Ecology and Environmental Protection, Industrial Engineering, and Housing and Real Estate Management. University faculty members, as well as current students in these programs, will be on hand to provide subject-specific academic consulation on the degree programs. Numerous short presentations on the various fields, “taster sessions” as part of the regular curriculum, and opportunities to tour the state-of-the-art laboratories provide a good insight into the study conditions at the university. You can also receive detailed counseling on the wide range of opportunities for studying abroad. 122 partner universities in 38 countries worldwide provide a good foundation for this.

The Cooperative Study Program with Integrated Training (KIA) has steadily developed since 1997 into a hallmark of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. More than 1,000 students have already chosen this path since then. A roundtable discussion on this program format is offered in collaboration with a industry partner.

“Practice-oriented young professionals who learn from the ground up what really matters in a company—that’s exactly what our cooperative partners are looking for,” states Hartmut Paetzold, the rector’s KIA officer.

At the Görlitz campus, the auditorium in the Hermann-Heitkamp Building, G I, Furtstraße 2, serves as the central hub for general information, housing, BAföG (German financial aid for students), and studying abroad. But this area also houses the subject-specific academic consulation offices for the degree programs in computer science, information and communication management, the relatively new degree program in Economics and computer science, the economics-related degree programs in Economics and Languages (Polish and Czech), culture and management, tourism management, Health care management, as well as the social science programs in Social Work, Special Needs Education/Inclusion Studies, childhood education, and communication psychology can be found in this area. The faculties and degree programs offer a diverse range of activities. Here, too, there are opportunities to get a taste of the regular curriculum, participate in lectures and panel discussions, and tour the buildings and laboratories.
