Teacher visit to the school lab
Teachers from the Görlitz Downtown High School are exploring the new DLR_School_Lab at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG).
This summer, 20 teachers from the Oberschule Innenstadt in Görlitz visited the new school lab: Junior Academy/DLR School Lab at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences in the Mandau-Höfe in Zittau. They were given a general overview of the facilities and equipment, but also had the opportunity to try things out for themselves.
During their visit, the teachers were able to step into the role of students and try out various experiments. These covered the properties of infrared rays, the proper use of pipettes, how heat pumps and Stirling engines work, fluorescence microscopy, the use of plant fibers in the sustainable production of new materials, fluorescence and chemiluminescence, and the body’s metabolism of oxygen and carbon dioxide.
Following the introductory event, a date was of course also set for a visit by pupils from the Oberschule Innenstadt. We are sure that they will have just as much fun as their teachers.
With the DLR_School_Lab at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is creating a modern extracurricular learning center where students can experience current research topics through hands-on experimentation.
