Textbook: BGB made easy

With the 32nd edition, scheduled for publication in 2018, Prof. Dr. iur. Erik Hahn of the Faculty of Business Administration and Engineering Management has taken over as editor of the concise textbook "BGB leicht gemacht" (The German Civil Code Made Easy), published by Ewald von Kleist Verlag.

First published in 1965, the textbook has traditionally been aimed not only at first-semester law students but also specifically addresses issues in civil law that are relevant to the basic legal education of students in other disciplines. With a total print run of over one million copies sold, this book—structured around case studies—is one of the most widely used legal textbooks.

Following a generational change among the editors and authors, the textbook was significantly revised for this new edition and enriched with current topics. Among other sources, it was based on the civil law lectures given by Prof. Dr. Erik Hahn in various degree programmes at the faculties W, MK, N, and M at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
