Laptop Drive at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences

We’ve all been there. That old laptop or computer is way too slow again, or hardware issues make it impossible to get any work done. It’s time for a new one! But what happens to the data on the old devices? Out of fear that data might be accessed without permission or lost, these devices end up in our basements and drawers, where they’re forgotten. But it doesn’t have to be that way, because the “RUN – ReUse Notebook” project and SAPOS gGmbH are dedicated to addressing this problem and guarantee that, when the device is recycled, the data will be irrevocably deleted or, for a fee, backed up and transferred to the donor.

But the good part is that you’re supporting SAPOS gGmbH in creating and maintaining jobs for people with disabilities, and by disassembling the devices or performing minor repairs, people with disabilities can be given a task and enabled to lead independent lives.

A few years ago, “MachMit Environmental Management” recognized the potential of the hidden treasures in our drawers and, together with SAPOS gGmbH, launched a cell phone collection campaign. This successful (and still active) campaign is now to be supplemented by the “RUN-ReUse Notebook” project at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG). (www.reuse-notebook.com)

Two collection points are planned, one each in the HSZG library in Zittau and in Görlitz. The local coordinators look forward to receiving your donations of laptops and accessories and will assist you with either dropping off the hardware donation or submitting the form for data backup.
