Laptop Drive at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences

Under the motto, “Providing employment for people with disabilities while ensuring the security of their personal data,” the laptop collection campaign was launched in early June 2018 and will continue indefinitely at the HSZG in Zittau and Görlitz. The team from the HSZG’s “MachMit” Environmental Management program and “SAPOS gGmbH” would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all donors in Zittau and Görlitz. More than 35 devices have already been donated in the first five months.

We would like to continue encouraging all employees and students—and, of course, all friends and acquaintances—to also donate their old laptops, netbooks, tablets, and cell phones/smartphones.

“By giving these devices a second life, we can prevent waste, preserve the value already embedded in the devices, and reduce the use of resources that would otherwise be required to manufacture new ones.”

Two collection points have been set up, one at the University Library in Zittau and one in Görlitz. The staff on site look forward to receiving your donations of laptops and accessories and will assist you in filling out the form for paid data backup, if you wish. For donations consisting solely of equipment, a guaranteed, irreversible data erasure will be performed. For defective devices, the storage medium will be destroyed in accordance with current standards.
