An information day on sustainability in the textile industry with a clothes swap took place in Zittau on January 8. The students of class NÖb15 hosted an afternoon dedicated to sustainability in the textile industry on January 8.
The event kicked off at 14:00 in room 1.01 in House IVb with a welcome address, followed by presentations and a discussion round.
Sigrid Münzberg began by introducing herself and "SEKUNDÄR-SCHiCK". The Diplom fashion designer has dedicated herself entirely to upcycling used clothing - because less consumption is more. She takes this message to schools and also offers courses and DIY instructions on her blog.
Unfortunately, the company "Räubersachen", which rents out ecological children's clothing, was unable to attend the event in person, but nevertheless provided answers to questions asked in advance.
Instead, Nina Krake from "ForSchur" explained how (not only) new children's clothes are made from old virgin wool sweaters and what makes this material so special.
The degree was rounded off with a film about the Zurich-based company "Qwstion", which uses banana fibers for bags and backpacks in addition to organic cotton.
At the same time, Greenpeace and sneep organized a clothes swap from 13:00-17:00, for which discarded items of clothing, bags, shoes, etc. could be donated.
The NÖb15 class would like to thank all those involved and interested for their participation.
