Ageing better with AI
The GAT Institute is involved in the development of an AI-based software platform for self-determined living in old age.
In August 2023, the GAT Institute, together with its partners in the collaborative project “Self-Determined Living in Old Age through Situation-Specific and Predictive Intelligence” (AI4ActiveAge) (in German: “AI (Artificial Intelligence) for Active Aging”) was awarded this research project (2023–2026), funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), as part of the WiR Alliance ZukunftALTER.
Our consortium partners are Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, Dresden University of Technology, uCore Systems GmbH in Weiterstadt, TQ Systems GmbH in Seefeld, and Johanniter Unfallhilfe.
The goal of this collaboration is to expand the “universAAL” software platform so that, with the help of AI applications, improved health and a self-determined, safe life in old age can be achieved in all life situations. To achieve this goal, the initiative must be brought to the attention of the general public. To this end, a training program is being developed, with the GAT Institute taking the lead under the subproject direction of Prof. Hoff. Through its integration into the WiR “ZukunftALTER” alliance, coordinated by AWO Hoyerswerda, the results will directly benefit the people of Upper Lusatia.
