Chancellor appointed

Dipl.-Jur. Karin Hollstein was reappointed Chancellor of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

Mr. Uwe Gaul, State Secretary for Science and Art, presented Ms. Dipl.-Jur. Karin Hollstein with the certificate of appointment from the State Minister for Science and Art as Chancellor of a University of Applied Sciences for a term of office of 8 years (1.07.2015 to 30.06.2023). In this office, Ms. Hollstein will exercise the function of Chancellor of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, thus continuing her first term of office.

"I am very pleased," says Karin Hollstein, "that I have received the confidence of the Senate, the University Council and the Saxon State Ministry of Science and the Arts for another eight-year term as Chancellor of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. While my first term of office was defined in particular by the "dual chancellorship" for Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and IHI Zittau (2008 to 2012), the coming term of office will be characterized by the 2020 target and grant agreement and the university development plan for 2025. The cooperation with the IHI Zittau as a central scientific institution of the TU Dresden will initially be continued until 2016 with a service agreement with the SMWK. In particular, the implementation of the new university management system with new ERP software, the introduction of a campus management system (SONIC) for Saxony's universities of applied sciences (HAWs) and the professionalization of risk and space management will be the main focus of the University Administration's work over the next few years. The role of state spokesperson for the Saxon HAWs at federal level since 2012 is also an expression of the recognition of my work. I am proud that projects started during my first term of office, such as the Zittau power plant laboratory, the introduction of separate accounting and full cost calculation for third-party funded projects with the private sector, services and further education, the quality management system in teaching and research and the structural development planning for both university locations, have made good progress," continued Karin Hollstein. "I would like to thank my colleagues at the Saxon universities of applied sciences and all employees at our university for their good cooperation. I would like to continue this cooperation successfully in the coming years."

The University Council and the Senate of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences congratulated Ms Hollstein on her reappointment at their joint meeting on 2-3 July 2015 at the St. Marienthal International Meeting Center in Ostritz and thanked her for her work.

Good luck and good health for the future!

The Chair of the University Council, Prof. Dr. Sylvia Rohr, congratulated Karin Hollstein on her appointment for a further eight years as Chancellor of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences at the joint meeting of the Senate and University Council.
