Mr. Uwe Gaul, State Secretary for Science and the Arts, presented Ms. Diplom-Juristin Karin Hollstein the certificate of appointment from the Minister of State for Science and the Arts as Chancellor of a university of applied sciences for a term of 8 years (July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2023). In this role, Ms. Hollstein will serve as Chancellor of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, continuing her work from her first term.
“I am very pleased,” said Karin Hollstein, “that I have earned the trust of the Senate, the University Council, and the Saxon State Ministry of Science and the Arts for another eight-year term as Chancellor of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. While my first term was marked in particular by my ‘dual chancellorship’ for Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the IHI Zittau (2008 to 2012), the upcoming term will be shaped by the 2020 Target and Funding Agreement as well as the 2025 University Development Plan. Cooperation with IHI Zittau, as a central research institution of TU Dresden, will continue under a service agreement with the SMWK, initially through 2016. In particular, the main focus of the university administration’s work in the coming years will be the implementation of the new university management system using new ERP software, the introduction of a campus management system (SONIC) for Saxony’s universities of applied sciences (HAWs), and the professionalization of risk and space management will be the main focus of the University Administration’s work in the coming years. My role as the state spokesperson for Saxony’s HAWs at the federal level since 2012 is also a testament to the recognition of my work. I am proud that projects initiated during my first term—such as the Zittau Power Plant Laboratory, the introduction of separate accounting and full-cost calculation for third-party-funded projects with the private sector, for services, and for continuing education, the quality management system in teaching and research, and the capital development plan for both university campuses, have been successfully launched,” Karin Hollstein continued. “I would like to express my gratitude for the good collaboration with my colleagues at Saxony’s universities of applied sciences and all the staff members at our university. I look forward to continuing this successful collaboration in the years to come.”
On the occasion of their joint meeting on July 2–3, 2015, at the International Meeting Center St. Marienthal in Ostritz, the University Council and the Senate of Zittau/Görlitz University conveyed their congratulations to Ms. Hollstein on her reappointment, along with their gratitude for her work.
We wish herevery success and good health in her work!
During the joint meeting of the Senate and the University Council, the Chair of the University Council, Prof. Dr. Sylvia Rohr, congratulated Karin Hollstein on her appointment for another eight years as Chancellor of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
