From bracelets and power posing to veggie burgers. There was a lot to discover!
The "WANTED!" job fair 2017 is history. On 29.11.2017, the Careers Service of the HSZG once again welcomed 27 companies and organizations from near and far as exhibitors. As every year, there were some "repeat offenders" as well as newcomers to the fair. In addition, the organizers put together an interesting package ranging from free application photos and application document checks to workshops. This also included the keynote speech "Nonverbal intelligence when starting a career" by Robert Körner. Shortly before a job interview, for example, the Diplom psychologist advises power posing to motivate yourself for the upcoming interview. This means quickly slipping into the role of Superman or Wonderwoman to give yourself courage for a rather unpleasant situation. Anyone who has tried it once will realize that it can definitely help. And it's certainly better than imagining your counterpart naked, as some guides sometimes recommend for such situations.
In addition to their offers for internships, working student activities, theses and jobs, the exhibitors also had exciting things to offer. At the Birkenstock GmbH & Co KG Services stand, for example, you could make your own bracelet. On a device that is operated exclusively by hand in the company, a rivet could be punched into the leather to attach a push button after selecting the appropriate bracelet color. After all, as the saying goes: "It's up to the man (or woman)". Birkenstock thus provided a first practical insight into the day-to-day running of the company.
The physical well-being was also well catered for. After a short scavenger hunt through the exhibition grounds, visitors were able to pick up a freshly prepared burger from local Zittau hero Mister Bales free of charge. Numerous visitors took advantage of this and enjoyed a classic cheese burger or alternatively a veggie burger with grilled cheese.
We would like to thank everyone involved for their contribution to the success of this year's "WANTED!" and hope that the event has resulted or will result in promising future contacts. As the 1st Deputy Mayor of Zittau, Thomas Krusekopf, said in his opening speech: "There is a lot to discover in and around Zittau". And in addition to the many sights, this also includes potential employees on the one hand and potential employers on the other.
