Intercultural honor

The Ambassador of Mongolia visits the HSZG for the opening of the "Meeting Point Interculturality" conference.

The Ambassador of Mongolia stayed in the Federal Republic of Germany: H. E. Dr. Birvaa Mandakhbileg was a guest at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences to open the "Meeting Point Interculturality" conference on 8 December 2022.

Dr. Mandakhbileg gave his lecture in excellent German, as he studied law in Leipzig and has been commuting between Germany and Mongolia for many years. His country is a democracy in the middle of Central Asia, with a long border with Russian Siberia in the north and the People's Republic of China in the south. On the one hand, Mongolia's mineral resources are becoming increasingly important for Germany, while on the other, the ecological system of the vast steppe covering 1.5 million square kilometers is of global significance.  In this context, the ambassador reported on his conversation with Minister President Michael Kretschmer about the "Steppe Guardians" exhibition planned jointly with the Senckenberg Museum in Görlitz, which Professor Vogt from the Faculty of Management and Cultural Studies is currently working on.

For its part, the university surprised the ambassador with a Mongolian-language lecture on "Interculturality in the Mongolian cultural scene" by doctoral student Khaliunaa Bayarsaikhan (Ulaanbatar, currently Görlitz), with German translation by Görlitz student Namuundari Mandakh (Master's in Culture and Management).

The ambassador had previously signed the Golden Book of the city of Görlitz at the invitation of Lord Mayor Octavian Ursi in the historic Renaissance Council Chamber and exchanged views with the directors Willi Xylander and Karsten Wesche, who are experienced in Mongolia, and three natural history experts from Mongolia at the Senckenberg Museum in Görlitz.

A special concern was the meeting with the cultural-political science doctoral students from the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the intensification of the exchange. Students at the university are cordially invited to get to know Mongolia personally.
