Inspiration and impetus for the future

At the KIA strategy workshop, the course was set for the future of the KIA dual study program.

On November 14, 2024, representatives from the university, businesses, and the student body gathered at the Kulturfabrik Schönbach for the KIA Strategy Workshop to chart the course for the future of the KIA dual study program (Cooperative Study with Integrated Training). With numerous innovative ideas and engaging discussions, the event was a resounding success and a source of inspiration for all participants.

Groundbreaking Results and New Perspectives

The workshop demonstrated once again the potential for further developing the KIA program. Participants took away numerous important insights, including:

  • Need for Awareness and Integration: Companies should be informed about opportunities to hire international students, and efforts should be made to strengthen their motivation and sense of integration.
  • The KIA Success Story: KIA’s public image and branding must be improved. Social media activities are considered essential for raising the profile of KIA as a model of success.
  • Stronger ties with companies: A better understanding between students and companies should strengthen the bond and transparency in their collaboration.
  • Continuous Adaptation: The structure of the dual study program should be reviewed regularly to ensure it remains up-to-date.
  • Networking as the Key: Exchange between the university and companies—especially with students—is essential and should continue to take place annually to generate new ideas.
  • Aligning Theory and Practice: Closer coordination between companies and the university is crucial for optimally integrating theory and practice.

An Inspiring Exchange in Schönbach

The Kulturfabrik Schönbach provided the perfect setting for this intensive exchange. The direct dialogue with the students, in particular, was seen as an enriching experience. Together, they developed solutions to make the KIA programs even more appealing and better tailored to the needs of target groups.

“KIA thrives on the commitment of everyone involved. Now it’s time to put these ideas into action and further develop KIA as a model for success,” summarized one participant.

Communication Psychology Students as Facilitators

As part of a pilot project, students in the communication psychology degree programme were involved in facilitating the workshop. This gave them the opportunity to gain practical experience and gain direct insight into the dynamics of such events. At the same time, their support helped ensure that the discussions remained focused and productive.

Outlook: The Next Step Toward a Successful Future

The results of the workshop are now being translated into concrete actions. The clear message: KIA is a living model that remains fit for the future through continuous development. The focus is on strengthening the network, transparency, and public visibility—always with an eye toward the synergies between academic study and professional practice.

A big thank you to everyone involved for this inspiring day—together, we are shaping the future of KIA!
