An electrical engineering degree in six semesters

With the new Bachelor’s program in electrical engineering , Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is paving the way for a modern engineering education in the field of electrical engineering that meets the future demands placed on engineers and the needs of the job market. The new program enhances the appeal of the degree by offering individualized and interest-based course options.

Students can choose between three specializations: mechatronics, Automation/Industry 4.0, and Intelligent Networks and Systems. Integrated elective modules—such as those in computer science—provide optimal opportunities to tailor the program to individual interests and inclinations. This allows students to actively shape their own academic journey.

The program can also be completed in cooperation with a company, either as an apprenticeship-integrated program (KIA) or as a work-integrated program (_KIAdirekt). These program formats are becoming increasingly important, as they provide direct insights into the corporate world and active participation in value chains even while students are still in school. In addition, students receive compensation from the company that covers their living expenses during their studies. This new offering is complemented by the new master’s program in electrical engineering, which will begin in the winter semester of 2025/2026. The master’s program lasts four semesters, and students can choose between the specializations in mechatronics and smart grids and installations.
