An electrical engineering degree in six semesters

With the new Bachelor degree programme in electrical engineering , Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is setting the course for a modern engineering education in the field of electrical engineering that meets the future demands placed on engineers and the needs of the job market. The new degree programme enhances the appeal of the degree by offering personalized and interest-driven course options.

Students can choose between three specializations: mechatronics, automation/Industry 4.0, and smart grids and installations. Integrated compulsory elective modules—such as those in computer science—provide optimal opportunities to tailor the program to one’s own interests and inclinations. This allows students to actively shape their own academic journey.

The program can also be completed in cooperation with a company, either as an integrated apprenticeship (KIA) or as a work-integrated study program (_KIAdirekt). These study formats are becoming increasingly important, as they provide direct insights into the corporate world and active participation in value chains even while students are still in school. This new degree programme is complemented by the new master’s degree programme in electrical engineering, which will begin in the winter semester of 2025/2026. The master’s degree programme lasts four semesters, and students can choose between the specializations in mechatronics and Intelligent Networks and Systems.
