Between the poles of tradition and modernity

On September 2, alumni of the engineering program visited the HSZG. They graduated 30 years ago.

30 years after their successful graduation (at that time still at the Zittau University of Engineering), alumni of E 83/1 (Section E, now the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) came together at the HSZG for a seminar group meeting. They moved between the poles of tradition and modernity both during the tour of the campus grounds and during the tour of Zittau and the surrounding area.

On the campus, the new seminar rooms and the laboratories in the reconstructed House I, in particular the new laboratory hall, were impressive. Other highlights of the tour were the high-voltage hall and House IV. Memories were often exchanged and the group quickly became engrossed in technical discussions. The information on the wide range of activities and opportunities in teaching and research was received with great interest.

The hike around Lake Olbersdorf and a tour of Zittau's city center showed that a lot has changed for the better, but that there is still a lot to do.

The meeting ended in the premises of the DeZi-Bar (formerly D-Keller). Here the day ended with food and drink and guitar playing.

The weekend ended with much praise for the attractive university location and best wishes for the future, especially for engineering education.

Thanks to the members of the university and the DeZi-Bar team who made this possible.
