When do I use term paper and when written report? Do you write University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Goerlitz? Or rather Zittau/Goerlitz University of Applied Sciences? What is the correct abbreviation for Bachelor of Arts? Is a diploma really a diploma?
If you are dealing with these and similar questions in your everyday work, you will find the answers in the new online tool HSZGdict. HSZGdict is intended to serve its users as a guide for the uniform translation of HSZG-specific terms as well as general terms used in the university context into English. Michaela Heidig, a graduate translator who was working on the "Blended Learning" project at the university at the time, began compiling a list of university-specific terms for a future German-English university dictionary at an early stage - outside of her actual area of responsibility. The data she compiled was handed over to Oliver Rymon, translator in the Department of Studies and International Affairs, last year.
In addition to further specialist vocabulary, he added a glossary function so that explanations can now be found for a large number of entries in both languages. In collaboration with Daniel Schmidt from the Public Relations Office, the data collection has now been transferred to the online research tool HSZGdict.
