HSZG sets 'musical' standards

About half of the participants (15–20 participants) in the German Sign Language certification program at the HSZG —who are hearing—joined their sign language instructor, Ms. Nicole Friedrich, on November 2516, in cooperation with other sign language users from the Dresden area, in a “Sign Mob.” At 6:00 p.m., everyone performed a Christmas carol in German Sign Language together at the Schwibbogen at the Dresden Striezelmarkt. It was called a “Sign Mob” because sign language users want to stand out solely through their sign language and use this action to draw attention to it. They practiced diligently in the sign language course at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences on the Social Sciences Campus in Görlitz. The main goal of participating is to put what they’ve already learned into practice.

The certified sign language course has been offered at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences since the 2016–17 winter semester. With over 50 registrations, interest in the course was very high!
