Renowned partners from industry and research in the field of energy technology met for the annual IAPWS conference.
In March, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was once again the venue for a meeting of renowned partners from industry and research in the field of energy technology as part of the annual conference of the German National Committee of the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS). The conference was organized and held by the "Technical Thermodynamics" department at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
As Dean of the Faculty, Head of the department and also Chairman of this national committee and Vice President of the IAPWS, it was Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Hans-Joachim Kretzschmar was particularly honored to welcome the conference participants to Zittau.
The event, which was opened by the rector of the university Prof. Dr. phil. Friedrich Albrecht, offered a platform for interdisciplinary exchange in addition to various specialist presentations from the field of thermodynamics. The conference focused on procedures and methods for determining the material values of water and water vapor as well as mixtures with water, which are raised to international standards. The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences reported on a newly developed process for the rapid calculation of material data in computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
In addition, the conference participants were offered an extensive cultural program to present the university location and the region. Prof. Kretzschmar emphasized the success of the conference and the importance of such events as an important step towards making the expertise of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences better known and making better use of the associated potential. Approaches for future cooperation were developed and a valuable contribution was made to Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the local economy.
