HSZG is a partner in the BMBF-funded project
“HOCH N”: Sustainability at Universities—Develop—Network—Report.
Since the beginning of the year, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences has been collaborating with 10 universities and another university of applied sciences on the joint project “Hoch N.” The project was launched by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to further embed sustainability at universities. Because of their roles in teaching and research, universities have a decisive influence on whether and how our shared future will be shaped in a sustainable manner.
Hoch N brings together experts with many years of experience in the field of sustainable education at universities. Their project tasks involve initiating and shaping processes for the development, implementation, and establishment of sustainability at German universities. This includes developing a cross-university vision for a sustainable university, as well as concrete work in university-specific areas of action and building networks beyond the current project consortium.
Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, together with the Technical University of Dresden, is responsible for addressing the action area “Sustainable University Operations.” This includes, for example, issues related to sustainable energy and building management, sustainable procurement, and sustainable human resources development. The project will result in guidelines, case studies, and examples of best practices that will support other universities in establishing sustainability management systems. Other areas of focus include governance, teaching, research, and sustainability reporting. The University of Hamburg (Center of Excellence for Sustainable Universities) is responsible for leading and coordinating the overall project. The project is supported by an advisory board.
